Human & Computer Interaction (HCI)
Home > Services > Usability Training

Workshop Objectives

The workshop aims to present a holistic framework of human computer interaction and the designer’s role in the process. The workshop starts with an understanding of human and computer capabilities and limitation with the view of using this knowledge to design usable systems. Models, frameworks, and styles of interaction are also discussed to educate designers on existing theories on the nature of interaction.

The workshop gives a complete view of HCI design and evaluation. Since design is an iterative process, designers will be made aware of different methods that they can use at each stage of the design process.

Hands-on workshops will be given for relevant topics so that participants will get a deeper understanding of the material.

Why you should attend this Workshop:

  • Understanding users is a prerequisite for building better interactive products
    • A deep understanding of human psychology, information processing, memory, ergonomics and decision-making process allows designers and developers to align their products better to the needs, capabilities and limitations of their target audience.
    • The workshop provides deep insights into these areas to allow you to make informed decisions and design better interactive products.

  • User interfaces account for 48% of the code in modern software and about a third of the weight in software reviews (Source: Usability Engineering, Jacob Nielsen)
    • HCI design methods have a high leverage on product structure, ease and efficiency of use, perceived quality, customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.
    • Studies show that user interfaces take up to 48% of the code in today's software and about a third of weight in software reviews. In contrast, HCI related activities take up about 6% of development budgets worldwide.
    • This means that companies who acknowledge the value of HCI methods and invest in it stand a much better chance of succeeding in the market.
