Singapore Ministry of Health's official SARS website
http://www.moh.gov.sg/corp/sars/

Background

The Year 2003 was the year of SARS for Singapore. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a respiratory or airways infection that has recently been reported in a number of regions, including Singapore. It is a new type of atypical pneumonia* that infects the lungs and is, caused by a new strain of virus called the coronavirus., which is from the same family of viruses that causes the common cold.

Objectives

MicroUsability played a part in the prevention of SARS, by working with the Ministry of Health to achieve these objectives through the official SARS website:

  • To help alleviate public fears and doubts about SARS.
  • To motivate people to help prevent further spread of SARS.

There were several hurdles that made the task to achieve objectives much more complex:

  • There were multiple user groups with diverse information requirements: schools, businesses, travelers, agents, parents etc.
  • The data was highly dynamic.
